ApoliceinspectorDusaninvestigatesanunusualcase,thedeathofMarjanOzim.Theinspectordevelopsanobsessionwiththecase,especiallywhenherealizesitwassuicide.Hestartstoliveinthedeceased’sapartment,diggingthroughhislife,gettinginvolvedwithpeopleMarjanOzimknew,graduallytakingoverhisidentity.Asthestoryprogress,thereasonsfortheinspector’sobsessionarerevealedstepbystep.OneofthemisdeathofhisdaughterEva,whodiedinacaraccident,whenDusanwasdrivingthecar.Hisex-wifeblameshimfortheirsdaughter’sdeathintheaccident,whichtookplaceontheverysamebridgewhereMarjanOzimcommittedsuicide.Fromtimetotime,Dusanreturnstothebridge,thelocationofbothaccidents,wherehelooksdownintotheabyssbelow,perhapsconsideringtakinghisownlife.DusandevelopsanunusualrelationshipwithMarjan’sformersecretloverMilena.HefindsoutthatsheblamesherselfforMarjan’sdeath,becauseshelefthimtoreturntoherfamily.EventuallyshediscoversthatMarjanhadotherloverswhilehewasseeingher.Thisbeautiful,somewhatmysteriouswomanenrapturesDusanaswell.ThedividinglinebetweeninspectorDusan’sandtheMarjanOzim’slifeisslowlydisappearing.Once,inasurgeofpassion,DusanandMilenamakeloveintheMarjan’sapartment,withDusan?intherole?ofMarjan.Asthemomentofpassionfades,thisbriefrelationshipalsoturnsouttobejustanotherblindalleyforDusan.Bytheendofthefilm,itbecomesuncertainwhetherDusaniseveninvestigatingthesuicideofMarjanOzim,oractuallyhisown.Afilmthatstartsasapolicethrillerandthencontinuesasanintimatethriller.Filmwheredeathiswaitingtohappen.
